SHENZHEN is handing out consumption vouchers to residents, as part of the local government’s efforts to boost consumption during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday.

From now to the end of February, consumers can apply to obtain digital consumption vouchers that can be used to purchase home appliances and pay for services provided by telecom carriers China Telecom and China Unicom.

Consumers can obtain the consumption vouchers by logging in to the homepage of China UnionPay’s Cloud QuickPass, one of the most popular third-party payment platforms in China, at the “government consumption voucher” section’s “2023-2024 Shenzhen new year shopping season digital consumption festival” subsection.

The vouchers are distributed in electronic form, divided into three types: “general vouchers” for use in designated stores (100 yuan [US$13.97] off for every 1,000 yuan spent), “China Telecom exclusive vouchers” for use at China Telecom stores and its partners’ stores (200 yuan off for every 1,000 yuan spent), and “China Unicom exclusive vouchers” for use at China Unicom stores and its partners’ stores (300 yuan off for every 1,999 yuan spent).

Consumers can use the vouchers to shop at designated stores that sell electronic products from Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Haier or pay for services provided by China Telecom and China Unicom.

After obtaining the vouchers, consumers are required to present the Cloud QuickPass QR code at the settlement terminals of the designated stores.

The exclusive vouchers for the two telecom carriers are only applicable for specific telecom service packages.

By using these vouchers, consumers can enjoy a maximum discount of 300 yuan. (Yang Yunfei)
