THE Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassadors & Friends New Year Party was held at Shenzhen Lang Lang Music World in Futian District on Saturday.

During the event organized by EyeShenzhen and Shenzhen Daily, expats joined locals to perform piano pieces, sing songs, recite poetry, and play games.

“I really feel great about being part of the program here,” said Francis Kwesi Hagan, one of the Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassadors and a veteran volunteer. “All the performances were a great way to show appreciation for whatever experiences and achievement individuals have made in the course of last year.”

“May the year 2024 be a blessing and be a fortune for each individual in the city. As we all know, this year is the Year of Dragon and we are calling for more energy. I wish everyone the best of luck!” he said.

Russian Daria Moshareva, who arrived in Shenzhen last year, sang the renowned piece “Moon River.”

Moshareva said she chose the song because it is positive and beautiful, and she hoped that audience members could dive into their dreams and feel closer to them.

Angelo Castagneto from Ecuador performed a self-composed song titled “We Are One.” Castagneto wrote the song in 2022. With the world facing uncertainty at the time, it came to his mind that sometimes, through music, people can be brought together.

Participants also shared their wishes for the new year.

Italian Alessandro Antonicelli, another Shenzhen Global Communication Ambassador, wished for everyone to keep it simple and stay healthy and safe.

“We are so blessed to be in this beautiful city. I’m also very happy to find out that more and more people know about Shenzhen. I think we can share our art, our initiative, our spirit, and our joy of life. Hopefully this can get us together,” he said.
