Chang Zhipeng 57589527@qq.com AROUND 200 hiking enthusiasts, including 150 from Hong Kong, gathered at Bijia Hill Park yesterday morning for a 10-kilometer group hike that commenced at the park and concluded at Meilin Hill. Chow Kwok-keung, chairman of the Hong Kong Hiking Association, revealed that the association’s 150 participants, representing 56 mountaineering teams within the association, have varying levels of hiking experience. “Through today’s event, I hope they can familiarize themselves with this route and eventually lead more members from Hong Kong on explorations in the future,” he stated. Manley Lau, a hiking enthusiast from Hong Kong, noted, “Life in both Shenzhen and Hong Kong has integrated well, and I anticipate a surge in similar events, for the residents of both cities, such as cycling and jogging.” The event also marked the official launch of the first volume of the “Hiking Shenzhen” book series. This series, consisting of three volumes, covers 100 featured trails in Shenzhen, each accompanied by a related story. Detailed information, including trail length, difficulty, transportation, tips, and attractions along the way, caters to the diverse demands of hiking enthusiasts. Planned, compiled, and published by the Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports Bureau, the book series will soon be available at major Shenzhen bookstores. Notably, a series of hiking exchange activities are scheduled through March for enthusiasts from Shenzhen and Hong Kong. These include an outdoor sightseeing and food-tasting event during the Spring Festival, a spring tea party promoting hiking in Shenzhen, an outdoor parent-child hiking event, and a sharing session for the release of a new volume within the “Hiking Shenzhen” book series. |
