THE Shenzhen Spring Festival Flower Fair’s Pingshan venue will be held at Pingshan District Central Park on Feb. 3-9, offering a string of events for residents to embrace the lively Year of the Dragon. A magnificent dragon installation will rise at the park, soaring into the sky, symbolizing the striving and upbeat spirit. More than 100 flower booths will be set up in the park, where residents can not only select fresh flowers and festive snacks, but also enjoy live music, paper-cutting, handicrafts, clown parades and magic shows. Visitors will also enjoy the Pingshan kylin dance, a city-level and provincial-level intangible cultural heritage, at the flower fair. Kylins are revered as auspicious symbols, representing protection, prosperity, success, and longevity in Chinese culture. Starting this weekend, a 10,000-square-meter space in the park will open to the public for camping or to enjoy snacks and hot tea under canopies. Since the park is adjacent to Pingshan Art Museum and Pingshan Exhibition Gallery, visitors can also check out the Roll Up the Earth Nature Art Season, featuring four nature-themed exhibitions at Pingshan Exhibition Gallery, as well as the “Nomads in the South: Rivers, Tunnels, Dampness and Constellations” contemporary art exhibition at Pingshan Art Museum.
