TO enhance multilateral cooperation, Shenzhen initiated the World Innovation City Cooperation Organization (WICCO) in 2021. During a visit from Jan. 24 to 26, a delegation led by Gu Ting, vice president of the Shenzhen People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Li Zhidong, deputy head of Futian District Government, explored this vision in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The delegation included representatives from various Shenzhen-based innovation platforms, enterprises, and relevant departments of Futian District. Visits were made to institutions such as the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Hong Kong Science Park, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the University of Hong Kong. Discussions focused on leveraging WICCO as a platform to enhance the efficiency of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation and jointly develop and implement future-oriented innovative technologies. Recognized as two of the most innovative hubs in China, Shenzhen and Hong Kong enjoy distinct geographical and resource advantages. Shenzhen, a pioneer in China’s reform and opening-up, possesses world-class technological innovation capabilities, with tech giants like Huawei, Tencent, and DJI contributing significantly on the international stage. Hong Kong boasts robust research capabilities and international talent advantages, holding a leading position in fields such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and financial technology. During the three-day visit, the delegation also participated in the Asian Financial Forum. (Tan Yifan) |
