THE southern section of Metro Line 13, between Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint Station and Hi-Tech Central Station, will be put into operation this year, sources from Shenzhen railway construction and commanding office said.

The southern section of the automated line has seven stations that include Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint, Talent Park, Houhai, Keyuan, Yuehaimen, Shenzhen University, and Hi-Tech Central stations.

An electrical load test was held last week in preparation for the a joint test of the trains, signal system, and other systems, and it laid the foundation for the initial operation of the section. The electrical load test was conducted to confirm whether the power supply system, contact net system, and railway system are compatible with, and stable for, the operation of the trains.

Metro Line 13 starts from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint and runs 22.4 kilometers along Chuangxin Boulevard, Tongfa Road, Shahe West Road, and Baoshi Road to Guangming. It covers the Houhai CBD, Shenzhen Hi-tech Industrial Park, and Liuxiandong Headquarters Base.

Of the 16 stations along the line, 11 are interchange stations. This southern section of the line is expected to relieve traffic congestion in the high-tech park area of Nanshan District.

Fully automated trains have been put into service on Metro lines 20, 12, and 14.
