WITH the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and its diverse applications, the second edition of Design Shenzhen is poised to spark exciting dialogues. Taking place from March 21 to 24 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District, the event will gather leading design brands and innovative products from around the globe.
Themed “Fusion of Design and Technology,” the four-day event will delve into the multifaceted interactions between AI and design. Attendees can expect discussions on the current state and future trends of AI integration within various design fields including interior design, architecture, and commercial design.
For instance, the main forum, which will be held on the second day of the event, will gather renowned designers and architects like Leon Krykhtin and Martha Tsigkari to explore how AI can revolutionize the design industry.
Among prominent exhibitors, Samsung, a pioneer in smartphones, wearable devices, and computer technologies, will display products that embody MicroLED display technology, color expressions, and new advancements.
Design Shenzhen has forged a partnership with TalKU, an art consultancy brand, to present the “DAST Technology and Art Application Special Exhibition.” DAST is an acronym for “Design, Art, Social, and Tech” that represents a new model for revitalizing commercial real estate. Spanning an area of 810 square meters, the exhibition will unveil a miniature scene of the DAST model, showcasing its seamless integration of form, content, and experience to deliver diverse and effective marketing solutions for commercial real estate stakeholders.
Other highlights at the annual design event will include Good Design Select and Idea Box. Good Design Select was curated by renowned industrial designer Shi Xiaoxi in collaboration with the G-Mark Japan Good Design Award. Through the exhibition’s “Why is this good design” approach, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in understanding the intricacies behind award-winning creations. From conceptualization to cultural influences, material choices to engineering marvels, craftsmanship to form, and even considerations of color, production, and brand vision, the exhibition will offer a comprehensive journey into the essence of exceptional design.
Inspired by the concept of a “box” and revolving around “lifestyle,” Idea Box aims to create a complete ecosystem for object design. It connects domestic and international quality channels to help brands grow commercially. In 2024, Idea Box will double in size and feature sustainable, eco-friendly construction methods. Introducing two innovative sections — “New Idea” and “Good Idea” — the showcase will unveil the latest trends and products from leading design brands, alongside a curated selection of designs that enrich daily life.
Design Shenzhen is a new addition to the event portfolio of Design Shanghai, Asia’s largest and most influential design fair. The inaugural event was held in Shenzhen in February last year. |
