Roadkill 竞争失利者
    2024-03-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: What do you say I buy some real estate company stocks?

B: Perhaps you should look at other options. Those have become roadkills in the current economic landscape.

Note: This term literally refers to an animal killed on the road by vehicles in traffic. In the countryside, animals in the wild often stray onto highways or superhighways and get hit by cars and trucks. Roadkill is American in origin and a relatively new expression — obviously the byproduct of motor vehicles and highways. “Roadkill” in the figurative sense came into being in 1992. It refers to one that falls victim to intense competition.
