OVER 100 academicians gathered at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) on Sunday to take part in forums about advanced topics.

A total of four forums were held Sunday to spotlight topics in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), data science, materials chemistry, and cell gene therapy and regenerative medicine.

Computing power and data were two key words highlighted at the AI-themed forum, which was jointly held by Pengcheng Laboratory and CUHK-Shenzhen.

Some academicians pointed out that major breakthroughs have been made in the field of AI in recent years, but simply improving computing power is not a “panacea.” They argued that it is necessary to consider how AI can serve the public interest.

Academic leaders shared cutting-edge technologies and concepts in the industry and discussed the latest progress in, and future development directions of, the field of mathematics and data science at the Forum on Advances and Development of Mathematics and Data Science.

The materials chemistry-themed forum aimed to promote industry-university-research integration and innovation for the field of chemical and polymer materials in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The GBA International Cell Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Symposium focused on cutting-edge biomedical science and technologies that modify or alleviate disease on a tissue, cellular, or genetic level.

During this symposium, the School of Medicine of CUHK-Shenzhen and the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at comprehensive cooperation in education, scientific research, and talent training.
