PHASE II of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway, an essential connectivity project that links the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link to other expressways in Shenzhen, is set to open simultaneously with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link as planned.

According to the Shenzhen Municipal Transport Commission, Phase II of the project encompasses a 5.7-km stretch connecting the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor to the interchange overpass near the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center.

It starts from the Huanghe Tollgate of the Jihe Expressway and ends at the eastern artificial island of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. Two overpasses, the Airport Interchange Overpass and the Hezhou Overpass, were built along the route.

Notably, the interchange overpass connecting to the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center has been operational since 2019. The remaining sections of the project are slated to open for traffic concurrently with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, which is scheduled to open in June. The opening of this expressway is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between the Shenzhen airport and expressways on both sides of the Pearl River.
