SHENZHEN Daily launched its first digital presenter “Jeni” this month, representing the newspaper’s significant leap to embrace the convergence of media and new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twins.

Powered by a leading AI avatar platform, Jeni embodies the appearance and voice of Shenzhen Daily’s reporter and presenter, Zhang Yu. With great precision, Jeni replicates Zhang’s voice and presentation style, delivering different types of presentations in multiple languages. Beyond Zhang, Jeni can emulate over 300 voices in 40 languages, making it a versatile tool for communication and engagement.

Jeni has taken on the role of hosting “Chinese Economy in Global Media Insight,” an English video series that offers comprehensive roundups on the interplay between the Chinese economy and global media narratives. The videos are posted on the EyeShenzhen WeChat video channel every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

In the future, Jeni will expand her role as a multilingual digital presenter, to be featured in more videos produced by both Shenzhen Daily and EyeShenzhen.
