SZ welcomes over 3M tourists during holiday

SHENZHEN received over 3 million tourists during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday that ended Saturday, an increase of 13.9% over 2019, according to a Shenzhen Special Zone Daily report.


Tourism revenue exceeded 1.93 billion yuan (US$272 million), marking a 22.8% increase from the pre-pandemic level recorded in 2019.


According to Ctrip, a Chinese online travel agency, Shenzhen ranked sixth among the most popular destinations in the country, with holiday travel bookings up a substantial 136% year on year.


Twenty-two key scenic spots across the city hosted a total of 817,900 visitors, generating an operating income of 39.49 million yuan.


The top five scenic attractions in terms of tourist numbers are OH Bay in Bao’an District, OCT Harbor in Nanshan District, Gankeng Hakka Town in Longgang District, Huaqiangbei Pedestrian Street in Futian District, and the Window of the World theme park in Nanshan District.


OH Bay attracted 172,300 tourists during the holiday period, securing its position as the top destination among  the key tourist spots.


Furthermore, survey data revealed that tourists rated Shenzhen’s tourism service quality at 8.92 out of 10 points. This score is 0.22 points higher than that of this year’s New Year’s Day holiday and 0.10 points higher than that of the Spring Festival holiday.
