A solar halo is seen in the sky over Shenzhen at noon yesterday, clearly visible to the naked eye as a magnificent, colorful ring enveloping the sun. Known as a 22-degree halo or sun halo, this atmospheric marvel occurs when the sun’s rays interact with ice crystals in the atmosphere. While typically white, this halo can display a spectrum of colors ranging from red, orange, and yellow to blue. The city’s meteorological observatory said a solar halo is a perfectly natural occurrence, indicating a substantial presence of water vapor in the air.
