THE number of newly registered robotics companies in Shenzhen reached 10,408 last year, up 19.62% year on year, as per the 2023 Shenzhen Robotics Industry Development White Paper recently released by the Shenzhen Robotics Association. Approximately 23.93% of the newly registered firms are located in Bao’an District, 19.23% in Nanshan District, and 17.28% in Longgang District. In the past year, the total output value of the city’s robotics industrial chain reached 179.7 billion yuan (US$24.83 billion), an 8.7% increase compared to 2021. Bao’an and Nanshan ranked among the top in Shenzhen, accounting for 35.01% and 34.84% of the output value, respectively. Additionally, the number of enterprises possessing robotics-related patents reached 3,699. The report highlights the robust capabilities of Shenzhen’s robotics industry. Over the past decade, there has been an explosive growth in patent applications and grants, with the number of patents granted last year increasing about 4.7 times compared to 2015. (Wang Jingli) |
