During the day, the delegation had meetings with several leading companies in Shenzhen including those in the areas of artificial intelligence, biomedical science, and biotech, which Breed said are similar to businesses in San Francisco. “San Francisco is the AI capital of the world and there are endless possibilities to develop relationships, including opportunities around tourism and everything we came here for,” Breed said. The primary goal of the delegation is to promote tourism in San Francisco. On Monday afternoon, the delegation attended a meeting with Shenzhen Airlines to explore opportunities to cooperate with Shenzhen in air travel. Breed said they had a goal to reopen direct flights between San Francisco and Shenzhen. “We want to make it convenient for people to do business. We have a number of incentives for airlines, including landing fee waivers and other incentives. We hope to build on our relationship and opportunities for tourism,” Breed said. After concluding her visits to Hong Kong and Shenzhen, Breed’s itinerary in other parts of China includes stops in Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai. She is scheduled to return to the U.S. on Saturday. |
