THE Shenzhen-North America Science and Technology Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference, held yesterday in Shenzhen, served as a catalyst for promoting economic collaboration and technological exchange between Shenzhen and North America.
Organized by the SCI Innovation Center and the Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation, the event attracted government representatives, industry experts, entrepreneurs, and business representatives seeking to explore new opportunities and expand their global reach.
Chris Pereira, founder and CEO of iMpact, a company dedicated to assisting Chinese enterprises in going global, highlighted the potential for Chinese companies to thrive in the North American market during a speech.
According to Pereira, Chinese enterprises are increasingly focusing on high-end value chains and product quality, which has enabled them to gain a foothold in various industries in North America, such as technology, consumer electronics, new energy, and health care.
Despite the challenges and setbacks that come with entering new markets, Pereira remains optimistic about the prospects for Chinese companies going abroad.
He advised Chinese businesses to bring Shenzhen’s standards and speed to North America while being mindful of localization. “By expressing genuine care for the local communities and committing to hiring local talent, Chinese companies can successfully adapt Shenzhen’s spirit to the local environment and thrive,” Pereira told Shenzhen Daily.
Thierry Kouembi, co-founder of Calgary-based Kem’s Fashion, expressed his interest in sourcing bamboo underwear products from Shenzhen and considers the city an ideal location for their sourcing needs.
According to Kouembi, their company currently offers cutting and sewing services for local brands in Canada. Their new men’s and women’s bamboo underwear venture marks a significant step towards establishing their own in-house brand.
“Shenzhen could be the best place for us to source our products,” Kouembi said, emphasizing the city’s potential to help them grow their business.
Kouembi also plans to attend the China (Shenzhen) International Brand Underwear Fair, which will take place between Friday and Sunday. He sees this event as a golden opportunity to connect with potential partners and further promote his brand of bamboo underwear.
The conference provided a platform for various Shenzhen-based companies, such as Shenzhen AMOS Sweets & Foods Co. Ltd., to explore opportunities for expanding their market presence in North America.
The company discussed its challenges in finding reliable cold chain transportation resources and sought government support in accessing information resources and logistics services. |
