SHENZHEN Metro has installed POS machines in eight major stations across the city, allowing international travelers and foreign residents to make payments with their bank cards starting yesterday.

The eight stations include Luohu Station, Huanggang Checkpoint Station, Wenjin Station, Airport Station, Futian Station, Gangxia North Station, Shenzhen North Station, and Buji Station.

The POS system supports major foreign bank cards including VISA, Master Card, Discover Card, AE, Diners Club, and JCB. Foreign visitors can also make digital yuan payments with the Digital RMB app Soft Wallet at all stations. Overseas travelers need to download the overseas edition of the Digital RMB app and link their bank cards to the app before they can pay for the ride with a QR code.

The operator has added a new feature to its Shenzhen Metro miniprogram that allows foreign riders to pay for rides with their foreign bank cards after linking their cards to WeChat Pay.
