SEVERAL new exhibitions and events await visitors during the May Day holiday, offering a diverse range of experiences for a leisurely break. Meanwhile, enchanting stage performances promise to transport you to different realms, making your holiday truly memorable.

Events

Xiaomeisha opens

The Xiaomeisha resort is set to commence trial operations May 1. Following extensive renovations, the new resort will feature an ecological park, a seaside park, an ocean world, recreational areas, shopping malls and the Shenzhen MGM Hotel.

Coffee festival

Print works

The “Beautiful Encounter — Contemporary Prints Invitational Exhibition of China & Hungary” exhibition, running through July 31, features works from the collection of the Chinese Printmaking Museum as well as donations by the Budapest Printmakers Association. The exhibition showcases around 140 prints, including over 70 works by Hungarian artists and 58 by Chinese artists.

Andy Warhol

About 100 works created by Andy Warhol are on display at “Andy Warhol Art Work Exhibition: Again Till No End,” providing visitors with an immersive experience into the world of pop art. The exhibition, running through July 10, also offers Shenzheners a rare opportunity to view works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, celebrated for his raw gestural style, which incorporates graffiti-inspired imagery and expressive text.

Architecture, art

Visitors can explore two architecture exhibitions: one featuring Japanese master Arata Isozaki’s works, and the other showcasing Shenzhen’s new cultural landmarks. Contemporary Chinese artist Xu Zhen is exhibiting his striking artworks at the “Ecosystem as Medium” exhibition, and “A Restoration and Research Exhibition of Xu Beihong’s Woman by the Window” will open May 1.
