Spanning 5.08 kilometers, Chunfeng Tunnel links Binhe Boulevard in the west to Xinxiu Overpass over Yanhe Road South in the east. It features open-road sections on both ends, with a 3.6-kilometer underground stretch in between. The construction team utilized a homemade slurry shield machine, which boasts dimensions of 135 meters in length and 15.8 meters in diameter, in the boring work, progressing at a rate of about 5 meters per day. Upon completion, Chunfeng Tunnel will be the city’s first single-bore tunnel with a double-deck interior. Each deck will accommodate two regular lanes and a continuous emergency parking lane, ensuring efficient traffic flow for both eastbound and westbound vehicles. Furthermore, it will integrate seamlessly with Chunfeng Overpass, forming a comprehensive traffic corridor. As a major infrastructure project, the tunnel will double the transportation capacity along the Chunfeng Road section and greatly improve traffic conditions on Chunfeng Overpass in southern Luohu when it opens before the end of the year. |
