THE transport authority has initiated renovation of Caimei Overpass to address traffic challenges in the Meilin area in Futian District and enhance its connectivity with the rest of the city.

The Caimei Overpass renovation project is located on the development axis of central Shenzhen, which is formed by the combination of Caitian-Meilin Overpass and Beihuan-Caitian Overpass. The current capacity of Caimei Overpass is insufficient to cope with increasing traffic volume, according to the Shenzhen transport bureau.

The project will replace the existing mainline bridge on Caitian Road and expand it from four lanes to six lanes in both directions. New ramps will be constructed based on the existing interchange’s turning functions.
