Yan Ning, founding president of Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation, and director of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, delivers a speech at the first Guangming Science City Forum in Shenzhen in April last year. The noted Chinese structural biologist has been named a laureate of the 2024 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards, UNESCO and the Fondation L’Oréal announced yesterday. She is among the five laureates of this 26th edition, who have been selected from among 350 candidates worldwide. As a leading authority in her field, Yan inspires female scientists globally and is a strong advocate for gender equality in research and science education, according to a press release by UNESCO and the Fondation L’Oréal.
