Tunneling work at headquarters base completed
    2024-05-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TUNNELING work for the main line of Binhai Boulevard at the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base in Nanshan District was recently completed and will open soon.

The 5.90-kilometer project starts at Shahe East Road Overpass that spans Binhai Boulevard in the west and extends to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway in the east, passing through Nanshan and Futian districts.

It includes a 1.56-kilometer tunnel and a 4.39-kilometer ground renovation project. After the renovation, the main line of the boulevard will feature an eight-lane, two-way road with a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour. The auxiliary road will be a six-lane, two-way road with a speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour.

Designed to integrate rail transportation, public transportation, Metro services, and underground space development, the project will create a super integrated complex that combines road and rail transportation with comprehensive development.

After the main line opens, two roads on the south side will be retained as temporary auxiliary lanes to ease eastbound vehicle traffic. This measure will alleviate congestion at key traffic nodes — from Shahe East Road to Binhai Boulevard and the No. 3 parking lot of Shenzhen Bay Park — by increasing traffic flow by approximately 40%.

The remaining construction will be finished in the second half of the year. Upon completion, Binhai Boulevard will connect Binjiang Boulevard, the Guimiao Road Tunnel, and Binhe Boulevard.

Four lanes in the tunnel — two for exiting and two for entering — will be connected to the underground road system of the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters. Once traffic in this section moves underground, the ground space will be converted into 100,000 square meters of green space, equivalent to 14 standard soccer pitches, enabling the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base to connect with Shenzhen Bay Park through the green space .
