THE North Division of Shenzhen Library in Longhua District has introduced China’s first drone delivery service tailored for book-loving patrons. The library receives thousands of visitors daily, but dining options are limited. Previously, hungry visitors had to spend at least 20 minutes traveling to nearby malls to find food. Now, drone delivery has drastically reduced this inconvenience. “Drone delivery provides quite a lot of convenience. What used to be an hour-long lunch break now takes less than half an hour, and there is a diverse selection of food at our fingertips,” said local resident Li Xiong. “There are convenient pickup points near the library.” Drone delivery services have also been embraced by other public hotspots, such as Baishilong Music Park. Initially focused on food items, the scope of drone deliveries has expanded to include over 1,000 different products. A representative from Meituan, the delivery company, said that the company is forming partnerships with new brands and using cutting-edge technology to enhance the shopping experience for its customers. A municipal urban management official said that drone deliveries are expected to extend to additional parks that meet the necessary criteria. (Chen Siqi) |
