A GLOBAL data receiving station for commercial remote sensing satellites will be established on industrial land in Baguang, Kuichong Subdistrict, Dapeng New Area. The bid for this land was secured by Zhongke Xinglian (Shenzhen) Information and Technology Co. Ltd. With an estimated investment of 847 million yuan (US$116.85 million), the global remote sensing satellite network project will develop two receiving facilities for satellite data, a global network headquarters building, a significant data center, an industrial incubation area, and an industrial accumulation area. As an important component of the global network, the project will offer real-time sensing data and distribution services to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the South China Sea region. Annually, the facility is projected to receive signals from over 40 satellites and will manage and distribute petabyte-level data received from space. Utilizing state-of-the-art satellite reception equipment known for its reliability and sensitivity, all forms of data from remote sensing satellites will be processed at the central headquarters to support the operation of a global remote sensing satellite network. Upon its completion, the project will establish a national-level experimental platform, academic workstations, and a college-enterprise cooperation platform. It also aims to consolidate resources in satellite manufacturing, research and development, sensors, drones, aerostats, satellite measurement and control, and space-related big data processing.
