Workers inspect the operation of the cutter head of the “Kunpeng” shield machine at the construction site of the Shenwan Tunnel of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen High-speed Railway on Thursday. On the same day, the machine started operation on the western section of the tunnel. The 116-km railway, part of China’s coastal high-speed railway network, will begin at the Xili Station in Shenzhen, pass west through Dongguan, Guangzhou, Zhongshan and Jiangmen cities, and connect another line to Zhanjiang at the Jiangmen Station.
