SZ among most popular destinations during Dragon Boat Festival holiday
    2024-06-05  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN has emerged as one of the top 10 popular destinations for travelers during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday, according to a report released by Fliggy Travel, a domestic online travel platform operated by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.

Fliggy Travel’s report also shows that per-capita bookings for domestic and overseas travel have increased this year compared with last year.

Despite the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday — which starts Saturday — being a short travel period, there is still a strong preference among travelers for cross-border travel, according to Fliggy Travel.

Bookings for overseas cruises, car rentals, and chartered cars during this year’s Dragon Boat Festival holiday have doubled compared with last year, Fliggy Travel data show.

Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, the United States, France, Australia, and China’s Hong Kong and Macao are among the most popular overseas destinations for tourists during this year’s holiday, according to Fliggy Travel.

Additionally, Chinese tourists are embracing new and innovative ways of traveling abroad, with cross-border cruises becoming a popular choice among some travelers. Bookings of international cruises on Fliggy Travel are 12 times higher than they were during last year’s holiday period.

In another development, the city ranked 16th among Asia’s top 100 popular destinations in the 2024 Annual Reputation List, which is published by China’s largest online travel services provider Ctrip.

Ctrip’s comprehensive list covers more than 20 categories, including hotels, scenic attractions, night tours, delicacies, and destinations. The rankings are generated through intelligent algorithms and verified by the Shanghai-based travel company’s teams to ensure accuracy and reliability. (Liu Yangyang)
