A TOTAL of 40,026 autos worth more than 10 billion yuan (US$1.38 billion) were pre-sold during the nine-day Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) International Auto Show, which concluded in Shenzhen on Sunday.

Featuring 200 automotive firms, including complete vehicle manufacturers, parts suppliers, technical services providers, and research organizations, the show attracted more than 860,000 visitors. It hosted 50 brand launch events and displayed 1,036 vehicle models.

Previously held at the convention center in Futian District, this year’s show relocated to the expansive grounds of the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center in Bao’an District, providing ample room for companies to exhibit their latest automotive technologies and innovations.

One noteworthy display was BYD’s global debut of the Yangwang U8’s emergency float driving technology. This pioneering safety feature enables the vehicle to float during emergencies.

BYD, the world’s largest manufacturer of new energy vehicles, showcased a diverse range of vehicles, such as the Yangwang and Denza series, and unveiled cutting-edge technologies like the fifth-generation dual-mode system and intelligent vehicle control systems.

The Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance zone stole the spotlight with brands co-developed by tech giant Huawei — Aito, Stelato, and Luxeed — exhibiting the latest advancements in intelligent driving, smart cabins, and vehicle control systems.

By incorporating themed zones and interactive experiences and blending automotive culture with engaging displays and activities, the show catered to diverse audience interests. Special events like a ramp-jumping truck performance further enriched visitors’ experiences.

Held in Shenzhen — an innovation hub of new energy and smart vehicles, the GBA auto show is one of China’s top auto exhibitions, alongside those in Beijing and Shanghai, and serves as a platform for collaboration, innovation, and advancement in the auto industry.
