PHASE II of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway, an auxiliary project connecting the Shenzhong Link (Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link) with other expressways in Shenzhen, will open simultaneously with the Shenzhong Link at the end of the month as scheduled.

The Phase II project includes the 5.7-km link connecting the Shenzhong Link and an interchange overpass with the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District. The 5.7-km stretch starts at Jihe Expressway’s Huanghe Tollgate and ends at the eastern artificial island of the Shenzhong Link. Two overpasses were built along the route — the Airport Interchange Overpass and Hezhou Overpass. The interchange overpass that connects to the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center has been in use since 2019. The rest of the project will open to traffic when the Shenzhong Link is inaugurated.

Once fully operational, the riverside expressway will significantly improve traffic flow to the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport and enhance connectivity between cities on the east and west banks of the Pearl River Delta.
