Silk Road cultural relics on display in Bao’an
    2024-06-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

OVER 80 pieces of cultural relics from countries and regions along the ancient Silk Road are on display at Bao’an Library. The exhibition is a key event of Bao’an District’s Cultural Heritage Month event.

Spanning thousands of years, the ancient Silk Road was not only a route for trade and barter, but also a route for exchanges between civilizations, making a significant contribution to the development and progress of human society.

The exhibits, ranging from 2,000 B.C. to the 13th century, showcase the achievements of ancient civilizations in Greece, Rome, Central and Western Asia and other vast regions. Based on the materials and characteristics of the exhibits, the exhibition is divided into four sections: glass art, ceramic art, metal art, and ancient maps.

The glass art section showcases the craftsmanship and unique charm of glassware from various cultures. The ceramic art section exhibits ancient ceramics from Central and Western Asia, as well as Islamic styles. The metal art section brings together 30 pieces of metal artworks such as gold, silver, and bronze articles from Mesopotamia, the Mediterranean region, the Iranian plateau, Central Asia, and other regions, narrating the origin, development and spread of metal art. The ancient maps section presents 39 maps.

In addition to the exhibition, the Cultural Heritage Month also includes a series of activities such as lectures and interactive sessions in Fenghuang Old Village, schools and other cultural venues in Bao’an until June 29.

Exhibition: Through June 18

Venue: Bao’an Library, Bao’an District (宝安区图书馆)

Metro: Line 5 to Baohua Station (宝华站), Exit D (Wang Jingli)
