Chamber music

The Cong Quartet from Hong Kong will team up with pianist Liu Xiaoya from the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, presenting pieces by Mendelssohn, Liszt and Schumann.

Hailing from Shanghai, the Zi De Guqin Studio challenges conventional notions about traditional Chinese instruments with their harmonies echoing contemporary music. Dressed in ancient Chinese costumes on stage, reminiscent of characters from Chinese scroll paintings, the ensemble will present traditional Chinese musical pieces.

Taiwanese singer-songwriter Ara Kimbo will bring his time-honored ballads to Shenzhen audience at a concert.

Trio Immersio, cello

The Trio Immersio from Vienna, Austria will play trio pieces by Schubert and Dvorak on Friday night. Consisting of violinist Vira Zhuk, pianist Mariam Vardzelashvili, and cellist Irene Kok, the trio promotes chamber music as a lifestyle and believes in full immersion into the sound world of vivid emotions, colors and ideas.

On Saturday, Chinese cellist Zhu Mu will join hands with pianist Zhang Jiao to play an evening of easy-listening pieces, such as Saint-Saens’ “The Swan,” Massenet’s “Meditation,” Piazzolla’s “Oblivion” and a few movie scores.
