THE 19th World Cup Ballroom Dance Championship is scheduled to be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian from July 13 to 19.

The dance championship is one of the three most prestigious dance competitions in the Asia Pacific region and is the first international ballroom dance competition independently organized in China. It has been successfully held 18 times in Shenzhen every year since 2003.

As an important cultural symbol of Shenzhen, the competition was included in the Shenzhen Cultural Menu from 2017 to 2019 and has been regarded as one of the top 10 most popular cultural and sporting events in Futian for several consecutive years.

The most influential sporting event of its kind in China is predicted to attract dancers from 30 countries and dancing competitors all over the country in the seven-day competition.

The organizing committee will invite 30 international judges alongside more than 120 Chinese judges for this highly anticipated dancing event.

The teenage section of the dance championship this year will be joined by international dancers from Russia, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and China.

Chinese teenage dancers from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Macao University of Science and Technology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Taipei and Shenzhen University will also compete at Inter-university Championship.

Hosts of the event include China Culture Administration Association, Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Media, Tourism and Sports Bureau, Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circle, the Publicity Department of the CPC Futian District Committee, Futian District Culture, Media, Tourism and Sports Bureau, and Gang Long Dance.
