A vessel passes under the Shenzhong Bridge, part of the Shenzhong (Shenzhen-Zhongshan) Link. The link has passed final acceptance testing, Guangdong Transportation Group announced yesterday, marking the end of seven years of construction on the world-class cross-sea mega project. Consisting of one underwater tunnel, two bridges, and two artificial islands, the 24-kilometer link will reduce travel time between Zhongshan and Shenzhen from the current two hours to less than half an hour, enhancing connectivity in the Greater Bay Area — one of the most economically dynamic regions in China. Its construction began in December 2016. The link is slated to open to traffic later this month. Liu Xudong |
