WITH the surge in tourism to Altay, Xinjiang, during the summer season, China Southern Airlines is set to open and expand seven routes, offering nearly 30 weekly flights to the region.

Commencing on June 24, the airline will inaugurate direct flights CZ5349/5350 every Monday and Wednesday between Changchun and Altay. Starting from July 1, flights CZ5571/5572 between Wuhan and Altay will operate each Monday. From July 2 onwards, the newly introduced flights CZ5375/5376, connecting Shenzhen to Altay via Yinchuan, will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Beginning July 3, flights CZ5643/5644 from Shanghai to Altay via Yinchuan will be available every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

In addition to the existing once-weekly Beijing to Altay flight on Thursdays, the carrier will introduce flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays, increasing the total number of weekly direct flights from Beijing to Altay to three. Moreover, a weekly flight from Guangzhou to Altay and 12 weekly flights from Urumqi to Altay will be offered.

Altay ranks among the top tourist destinations in Xinjiang, renowned for the Altai Mountains and the Irtysh River. The enigmatic and picturesque Kanas Lake, neighboring Tuva tribe with their traditional lifestyle, breathtaking natural landscapes, and diverse minority cultures, entice numerous visitors to explore Altay. Beyond its exceptional ecological setting, Altay transforms into a marvelous winter wonderland for skiing enthusiasts.
