PERUVIAN President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra’s brief yet eventful 24-hour visit to Shenzhen proved to be an immersive experience that showcased the city’s rich cultural tapestry and thriving technology sector.
Mayor Qin Weizhong met with Boluarte before her departure from the city yesterday evening. The two exchanged views on expanding Shenzhen-Peru exchanges and deepening high-quality Belt and Road Initiative cooperation.
In a packed schedule, Boluarte and her delegation visited the Nanshan Museum and prominent companies Huawei and BYD. She also held talks with executives of China Electronics Corp.
At the Nanshan Museum, Boluarte was particularly captivated by the exhibition titled “The Son of the Sun – The Inca and Their Tawantinsuyu: The Land of Four Quarters.” During the tour, she carefully listened to the tour guide’s explanations and expressed a deep appreciation for the exhibition’s significance.
Upon the conclusion of her museum visit, Boluarte commemorated the occasion in the museum’s message book, expressing that it was an honor to visit a place that celebrates the Inca and pre-Inca cultures.
According to the museum, “The Son of the Sun” special exhibition has received an enthusiastic response from visitors nationwide since its launch April 19, attracting nearly 200,000 visitors. The exhibit features 168 Peruvian cultural artifacts from 14 different Peruvian museums, each a testament to the grandeur of the Inca Empire and the Andean civilization.
At Huawei’s headquarters in Longgang District, Boluarte toured the company’s exhibition hall, where she experienced firsthand a naked-eye 3D display of museum exhibits, powered by Huawei’s 5G-Adavanced technology, and learned about the company’s cutting-edge solutions for different sectors.
Boluarte also witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between Peru’s foreign affairs ministry and Huawei, which will see the latter train 20,000 Peruvians in new information technologies, with a focus on artificial intelligence, over the next five years.
At BYD, accompanied by its chairman Wang Chuanfu, Boluarte was given a comprehensive overview of the company’s diverse vehicle models and its latest technological breakthroughs in the new energy vehicle sector.
The president warmly invited BYD to consider introducing its SkyShuttle rail transit system to Peru and to further expand its operations within her country.
Boluarte, who is on her first state visit to China, left for Shanghai yesterday. |
