The projects, which cover fields such as law, education, business, and trade, aim to promote development in Luohu and Hong Kong’s northern Metro area. Organized by the Luohu District Government, the event sought to build a dialogue platform for Luohu and Hong Kong enterprises that would foster exchanges, expand cooperation, and promote mutual benefits and win-win success. Representatives from more than 30 Luohu-based companies were invited to the event with the hope of helping them expand into overseas markets. A discussion session was also held during the event where guests from Luohu and Hong Kong shared insights on new opportunities for cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Speakers noted that Luohu’s proximity to Hong Kong, industrial foundation, population density, and pro-business policies can deliver positive results for cooperation, while Hong Kong is the top destination for domestic companies seeking to enter global markets. Dennis Lam Shun-chiu, a renowned ophthalmologist and the founder of C-MER Eye Care, said that he hopes to provide convenient medical services to people from the two places. According to Lam, C-MER’s comprehensive hospital at Luohu Checkpoint, which will have renowned doctors from Hong Kong on its staff, is set to open this October as scheduled. Kenny Shui, vice president of Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF), suggested that universities and research centers in Hong Kong and hospitals in Shenzhen could cooperate to jointly launch research centers. He believes that the joint research centers would attract top talent and keep related pharmaceutical companies informed of the latest research. During the event, it was mentioned that Hong Kong is the largest source of overseas investment for Luohu. Presently, Luohu District is focused on establishing itself as an international retail hub, a pilot area for Shenzhen-Hong Kong integrated development, and a demonstration area for the modern services industry. Luohu Checkpoint is a land checkpoint with the highest traveler flow in Shenzhen. From Jan. 1 to June 30, the checkpoint saw more than 30 million inbound and outbound travelers, according to official data. |
