Wang Chuanfu (R), chairman and president of Shenzhen-based BYD, hands over BYD’s 8 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV), the Dolphin model, to the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage at a ceremony in Rayong, Thailand, on Thursday. The company opened its Thailand plant Thursday, as its 8 millionth NEV rolled off the assembly line in the factory, making it the world’s first automaker to achieve the significant milestone. BYD completed its Thailand plant in just 16 months, which has an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles. BYD’s official Weibo account
