READERS can find solace and escape at the Rose Bookstore located in the Honey Park (or Xiangmi Park) in Futian District by immersing themselves in stories amid the vibrant hues of blooming Chinese roses.

The Rose Bookstore, accessible from the front gate of the Honey Park, is the city’s first rose-themed space featuring book reading, cultural activities, and floriculture.

The bookstore, jointly built by Futian District’s urban management authority and Futian District Library, is also part of the city’s efforts to build book bars in parks.

Since its opening in May, it has not only become a new cultural and leisure destination for citizens but has also attracted many rose lovers, making it an important platform for the city to promote Chinese rose culture, public reading, and popular science education.

The bookstore’s corridor draws in soft natural light through large glass windows, allowing the interior space to seamlessly connect with the outdoor park views.

The bookstore boasts a collection of over 2,000 Chinese rose-themed books that delve into Chinese rose history, culture, and planting tips.

To engage the public, the Rose Bookstore has launched the “one-day store manager” and “co-manager” programs, allowing the public to experience the daily operation of the bookstore.

Citizens can also donate or recommend books to the bookstore. Moreover, the bookstore will organize a series of activities regularly, according to the operator of the bookstore.

Open: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., closed Mondays

Venue: Rose Bookstore, inside Honey Park, Futian District (福田区香蜜公园内玫瑰书屋)

Metro: Line 7 to Nonglin Station (农林站), Exit C
