THE Chinese team roster for the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games has been finalized, and 12 athletes from Shenzhen have secured a chance to participate in the competition. This surpasses the number of Shenzhen athletes in the previous Tokyo Olympics (eight athletes) and is second only to the 2012 London Olympics (14 athletes). The most outstanding performance in the history of Shenzhen athletes in the Olympics was in 2012 when they secured two gold and four silver medals. This was followed by the Rio Olympics with one gold and two silver medals, and the Tokyo Olympics with one gold, one silver, and one bronze. The 12 athletes representing Shenzhen include Liu Hong (racewalking), Zhang Xinqiu (trap shooting), Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi (synchronized swimming), Wang Xinyu and Yuan Yue (tennis), Chen Jun’er and Tang Muhua (swimming), Ou Yushan (gymnastics), Zhang Yuetong (rock climbing), Huang Bokai (pole vault), and Zeng Rui (triple jump). Among these athletes, Liu Hong, Tang Muhan, Wang Qianyi, Ou Yushan, and Huang Bokai have previous experience from the Tokyo Olympics. Liu Hong is set to compete in her fifth Olympics. Chen Jun’er, Wang Liuyi, Zhang Yuetong, Zhang Xinqiu, Wang Xinyu, Yuan Yue, and Zeng Rui are first-time selections.
