XUAN GUANG, a guzheng brand based in Hong Kong, introduced its first product from the Musician Series Guzheng, named “Jun Tian Guang Yue,” at its flagship store in One Shenzhen Bay in Nanshan District on July 20.

This launch demonstrates the brand’s commitment to preserving the essence of this traditional instrument and promoting Chinese music worldwide. “In creating ‘Jun Tian Guang Yue,’ we took inspiration from the Japanese aesthetic concept of ‘wabi-sabi,’ embodying simplicity, elegance, and grace. We carefully chose naturally aged mountain sugi (Japanese cedar) over 450 years old to convey these qualities,” said Mok Wai-leung, the founder and artistic manager of Xuan Guang.

Su Chang, a well-known guzheng virtuoso and associate professor at the Central Conservatory of Music, graced the event as the first performer of the new product “Jun Tian Guang Yue,” presenting a captivating folk music masterpiece.

She provided her expert insights on various aspects, such as tone, sound quality, and resonance, of the guzheng.

“The tone of ‘Jun Tian Guang Yue’ blends seamlessly with the pieces I performed, providing exceptional sound feedback that deeply resonates with listeners,” she said.

The launch not only showcased Xuan Guang’s progress in guzheng production technology, but also elevated guzheng art through collaborative partnerships with accomplished musicians.
