THE Trinity Boys Choir, one of the world’s most well-known and successful boys choirs, will stage a concert at the Guangming Culture and Art Center this Friday evening.

Under the baton of its director David Swinson, the choir will present a program including a mix of classical and popular tunes.

Consisting of pupils at Trinity School in Croydon, London, which is considered one of the top schools for music in the U.K., the choir, with its angelic singing characterized by power in pureness and softness, has enjoyed a high professional profile both at home and abroad for over 50 years.

In addition to appearing on many prestigious stages in the U.K. alongside the world’s top orchestras, the choir has performed in several European and Asian countries and the U.S. It has also contributed to the soundtracks of Hollywood blockbusters such as “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” “Maleficent,” and “Captain America: Civil War.”

The choir, having collaborated with many prestigious orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, has received global recognition for its exceptional interpretation of classical music pieces such as Handel’s “Messiah,” Mozart’s “Requiem,” and Bach’s “St Matthew Passion.” Friday’s concert will see the choir perform excerpts from Mozart’s “Magic Flute,” Handel’s “Semele,” Britten’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and other works.

In terms of pop songs, the concert’s lineup will feature hits by famed British bands and singers such as Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” Coldplay’s “Fix You,” The Beatles’ “Let It Be” and “Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da,” Elton John’s “Your Song,” Sting’s “Fields of Gold,” and Adele’s “Skyfall.” The program is subject to change.

Swinson has been director of music at Trinity School and director of Trinity Boys Choir since 2001. He was head chorister at Magdalen College, Oxford University before studying piano and organ at the Royal College of Music and then Music as Organ Scholar at Jesus College, Cambridge University. Since graduation, he has enjoyed a busy career as a teacher, conductor and organist.
