Unique puppet plays to bring enchanting experiences

THREE children’s puppet plays will be staged at Nanshan Culture and Sports Center in Nanshan District and Shenzhen Women and Children’s Building in Futian District this summer.

The shows, from Russia, Armenia and Iran, boast unique styles, incorporating light, shadow and multimedia technologies to immerse the audience in fantastical worlds.

‘The Light Puppets’

The Nikolai Zykov Theater from Russia will present a mesmerizing wordless puppet show featuring an array of innovative electro-luminous creations. With distinct marionettes and puppets, this performance promises to delight and stun families. Through a series of captivating light miniatures, viewers are bound to discover surprises.

‘Thumbelina’

The Yerevan State Puppet Theater from Armenia will enchant the audience with a shadow play adaptation of Andersen’s classic fairy tale, “Thumbelina.” Incorporating multimedia technologies, the show offers a dreamlike journey in which the audience can revel in exquisite shadow artistry, elegant dances and dazzling lighting, ensuring a visually stunning experience.

‘Tale of Night’

The Poetic Children Theater from Iran will bring “Tale of Night,” a fusion of pupettry and black light theater that transports children to whimsical realms. Centered on a grandfather’s memories and fantasies, this play features his endearing encounters with charming aliens, conversations with fish, and dances with whales, leading the audience into a vibrant adventure.
