WITH the final steel beam hoisted into place, the main steel structure of the Shenzhen Natural History Museum was officially completed Wednesday, marking the start of the museum’s interior decoration phase. As a major project in Shenzhen and one of the “New Era Major Cultural Facilities,” the museum will be the first large-scale comprehensive natural history museum in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and southern China upon completion. According to a representative from the Shenzhen Municipal Public Works Bureau, the architectural design of the museum, composed of five conical structures, was inspired by the concept of a “river delta.” Spacious corridors and public facilities create a smooth flow that envelopes the conical halls and exhibition spaces, resulting in a dynamic and varied architectural form. The building’s facade is made from sloping stone surfaces that resemble natural “sea cliffs,” reflecting a sense of harmony with nature. The museum’s unique rooftop park further enhances and extends the natural environment design theme. Visitors can stroll along ramps that extend from the ground floor to the museum’s roof and enjoy a diverse array of natural scenery. (Liu Yangyang) |
