WU CEN and Li Yichuan, two students from Shenzhen University (SZU), are currently serving as volunteers at the ongoing Paris Olympics. Their primary responsibility is to support members of the Olympic family, including International Olympic Committee (IOC) members, representatives from national Olympic committees, and athletes, and ensure that they have a smooth and enjoyable experience by providing essential support and information. Wu, a 20-year-old majoring in French literature, has discovered that people from different countries can communicate positively with one another. This experience has deepened her understanding of the Olympic spirit. Wu said that she is honored to serve as a bridge for communication between different countries. Before heading to Paris, she prepared brooches with Chinese elements as gifts for volunteers from various countries, hoping they would help promote understanding of China, according to Shenzhen Evening News. Both student volunteers have been captivated by the excitement of live competitive sports, particularly events featuring members of the Chinese team. Li, a French language major, said that he found himself cheering along with other Chinese fans during the women’s volleyball matches. Li also shared his excitement for the role, saying that he felt eager to contribute to the Olympic Games as soon as he arrived in Paris. (Wang Jingli) |
