Airport checkpoint records over 3M inbound, outbound passengers
    2024-08-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AS of Sunday, the Shenzhen Airport Checkpoint had handled over 3 million inbound and outbound passengers since the beginning of this year, an increase of over 146% year on year.

This figure surpasses the total number of border entries and exits recorded at the airport last year, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Nearly 20,000 individuals passed through customs at the airport Sunday, setting a new record for the largest number of daily border entries and exits since May last year.

The airport has seen over 30,000 inbound and outbound flights since the beginning of this year, an increase of over 73% year on year.

The number of international travelers passing through the Shenzhen airport has surged to more than 250,000 this year, an increase of over 200% compared with the previous year. Among them, nearly 100,000 entered the country without a visa, an increase of more than 560%.

Countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Germany are among the top sources of international tourists visiting China via the Shenzhen airport.

The increasing popularity of the term “China Travel” on international social media platforms has resulted in more international travelers visiting China for short trips. Since the start of this year, the airport has facilitated 24-hour visa-free transit for nearly 40,000 travelers from over 130 countries and regions.
