Young swimmers in spotlight
    2024-08-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

NEARLY 200 young athletes from 11 teams across Shenzhen participated in synchronized swimming matches, vying for 15 gold medals during the ongoing 11th City Games.

The competitions concluded Monday, with Nanshan, Futian, and Yantian districts securing the top three positions in total scores. Bao’an and Yantian districts were lauded for their excellent sportsmanship exhibited throughout the matches.

Contestants competed in five age groups, with the youngest being under 7 and the oldest under 15.

Shenzhen’s synchronized twins, Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi, are among six local athletes competing at the Paris Olympics. The duo, having clinched golds at last year’s Asian Games and previous world championships, serves as inspirations to a new generation of swimmers.

Here, we provide readers with a glimpse into the young athletes’ glamorous moments in the arena and unveil their behind-the-scenes interactions through the lens of Shenzhen Daily photographer Lin Songtao.
