Zhang Yu JeniZhang13@163.com THE French luxury jewelry and watch brand Van Cleef & Arpels has teamed up with designer and artist Arthur Hoffner this summer to create a dynamic and colorful pop-up space for the brand’s Perlée jewelry collection. Perlée is the French word for “pearls.” The pop-up space, unveiled at MixC Shenzhen Bay last Wednesday, will be there until Aug. 25. Previously, the space has been exhibited in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, and Wuhan, and will be showcased in Hangzhou starting today. Joyfully playful, the Perlée jewelry collection features delicate golden beads in rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Coming together in infinite combinations to express a personal style, these jewelries can be ideal to mix and match with other accessories and outfits. Within the pop-up space, the golden bead motif is embodied in a décor featuring spheres of various sizes, aluminum tubes, and blocks of marble in playful shapes and shades of coral, cobalt blue, and pale pink. The Perlée collection was first launched in 2008, drawing inspiration from the brand’s long history and in homage to its emblematic golden bead motif. Traditional jewelry techniques are used in making each piece. The golden bead motif was first adopted by Van Cleef & Arpels in the 1920s, and has been featured in the Couscous, Bagatelle, and La Boutique collections since 1948.
