Located in the South China Sea about 240 kilometers southeast of Shenzhen, Liuhua is China’s first deepwater oilfield. Haikui-1, Asia’s first cylindrical, floating production, storage, and offloading facility, and Haiji-2, Asia’s first deepwater jacket, began operations Thursday. The opening is a milestone in China’s independent development of deepwater, ultra-large offshore oil and gas equipment, according to operator China National Offshore Oil Corp. Shenzhen Branch. Haikui-1 is nearly 90 meters high and can process approximately 5,600 metric tons of crude oil per day. Haiji-2 integrates drilling, production, and living functions. Standing at 428 meters tall, it is the tallest and heaviest jacket platform in Asia.China News Service |
