New media art THE spiral-shaped venue at Zone H of Bao’an Coastal Lounge Bridge, known as the Baywalk, has been turned into an immersive outdoor digital art theater. New media artworks are shown at this unique “theater” every night through late October, reminiscent of a galaxy embraced by the universe. In addition to the visual spectacle, the digital art exhibition features live performances ranging from folk to jazz and electronic music every Saturday night. Visitors to the Sky Museum can now admire several guqin dating back to the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties, as well as replicas of some guqin from the Palace Museum’s collection. Visitors also have a chance to learn about the craftsmanship of guqin making. The exhibits, drawn from the museum’s extensive collection, include 34 beds contributed by Shenzhen resident Zhang Zhixian. The elaborate decorations, dazzling carvings, and unique mortise-and-tenon wooden structures featured on these beds offer a glimpse into the rich tapestry of traditional Chinese culture. Visitors get to appreciate the works of Tang Yin, Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming, and Qiu Ying, and understand the natural, leisurely and simple aesthetics of the literati of that epoch.
