THE Hetang Wetland Park in Xinda Community, Nan’ao, Dapeng New Area has been transformed into a dreamy sea of pink as its 7,000-square-meter pink hair grass enters full bloom. This plant, also known as pink muhly grass (Muhlenbergia capillaris), is a clump-forming perennial grass renowned for its appealing summer foliage and spectacular clouds of fall flowers. The optimal period to view the blooms is from October to November each year in Shenzhen, when numerous visitors make pilgrimages to the park seeking instagrammable photo ops. Spanning 150,000 square meters, Hetang Park is the largest wetland park in Dapeng, built with the aim of restoring the local ecosystem. In addition to the pink hair grass fields, the park features a bird-watching pavilion, pebbled beaches, winding boardwalks through the woods, and a stone bridge over the creek. Covering about 20,000 square meters, the thriving mangroves in the park create a paradise for birds and various wildlife species.
