CHINA’S first intelligent recycling bin was recently launched at SF Express’ Shahe bulky-item outlet in Xili Subdistrict, Nanshan District, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday. The recycling bin accepts items including waste paper, plastics, metals, and fabrics. Citizens and SF Express’ delivery drivers can scan the QR code on the bin to recycle items. After receiving an item, the smart bin automatically calculates weight and monetary value. Operated jointly by Shenzhen-based courier enterprise SF Express and Shenzhen Lyuyuanshen Recycling Environmental Technology Co., the bin is introduced to strengthen recycling and raise social awareness about environmental protection. The use of the bin will not only encourage SF Express staff to join recycling efforts and earn extra income but will also improve the cleanliness of the work site, SF Express said. The company plans to install this type of smart recycling bins at all of its 20 business outlets across the city and supervise data at each outlet to develop and improve the recycling system for waste materials.
